Music Business Network
Hi there
I am emailing from CMU, the UK music business network, to let you know about CMU UnsignedMonth, which is taking place next month.
As you may or may not know, we publish a daily e-bulletin for everyone working in music called the CMU Daily – it is read by over 15,000 music people every lunchtime, including all the key label managers, A&Rs, promoters, agents, journalists and DJs working in music in the UK. CMU UnsignedMonth will see the CMU team tipping a different unsigned or self-releasing artists every day in the Daily throughout November, giving the industry an insight into some of the great new talent that could and should be causing a storm in 2009.
We are staging CMU UnsignedMonth in association with MUZU TV, a new video service for music people that gives labels and artists the chance to create their own TV stations, for free, and to make their videos available via their own MUZU channel, or their own website, blog or social network page.
All unsigned bands from across the UK and Ireland are invited to put themselves up for consideration to be tipped as part of CMU UnsignedMonth. All they have to do is set up a MUZU channel, for free, and link to it from the CMU MUZU page at www.muzu.tv/cmutube.
I’m emailing you about this because we thought you may be in touch with unsigned bands who you think we should be considering. If so, it would be great if you could forward them the information below, or the attached Jpeg, or send them to www.cmumusicnetwork.co.uk/unsigned.
Many thanks
George

What it’s all about
As Christmas approaches the music industry tends to focus on the big artist releases and compilations. But CMU, the UK’s music business network, and MUZU TV, the artist video platform, have decided to do the opposite, and will use November to champion brand new unsigned bands from across the UK and Ireland, with the aim of discovering some of the talent that should be making waves in 2009.
CMU’s daily e-bulletin, the CMU Daily – the UK music business’ biggest and most popular daily news service – includes a daily feature called SNAP Of The Day – or ’social network artist page’ of the day – in which the CMU team tip great artists that have been newly signed or have a new release upcoming. CMU’s media and music industry readership use the SNAP tips to find out and discover new talent, or to get advance notice of new releases. Every day in November an unsigned band will be featured in this slot.
Unsigned bands across the UK and Ireland are invited to put themselves forward to be featured during Unsigned Month in the CMU Daily. To take part all they have to do is set up a MUZU channel and upload some video and/or audio content that the CMU team can check out. Once it is set up they should make themselves ‘friends’ on the CMU-Tube channel on MUZU – the CMU Team will check out every single band that do so before November.
And then, from 3 Nov, CMU and MUZU will start showcasing the best new unsigned bands to A&Rs, promoters, producers, DJs, journalists, reviewers, editors and opinion formers across the UK.

What bands have to do…
1. Go to www.muzu.tv, click on register and set up an artist channel – this is free and takes no more than 3 minutes to do.
2. Upload content to their channel. Bands can upload video and audio content. Either will do, though bands are encouraged to upload video content – whether they be acoustic performances, live footage, interviews or tour diaries.
3. Go to www.muzu.tv/cmutube, click on ‘fan TV’ and click on ‘become a friend’.
4. And that’s it – the CMU team will check out the channels of every band who become a friend before November.
Bands who sign up with MUZU will also find themselves equipped with their own web-TV channel and their own version of the best video player we’ve ever found on the net. More details on what MUZU TV offers to bands and labels is given below.
